International Cultural Festival 2020

Fuquay-Varina citizenry reflects the microcosm of the world stage. Embracing this diversity provides opportunities for all of us to experience our neighbors in different ways. As a result of these experiences, we become more knowledgeable and comfortable interacting with individuals from various backgrounds and cultures. Fuquay-Varina can become stronger, more respectful of our differences, and more able to see the commonalities among us. “Fuquay-Varina Around the World: An International Cultural Festival” enjoyed its inaugural event on April 27, 2019 and hosted an ambitious schedule of performances by groups representing different ethnic groups, writers of different genres, artists depicting different life experiences, and an assortment of international foods through our invited food trucks. It was a technical success and we are excited to add this event to our annual calendar and hope it becomes a beloved celebration of the power of diversity in our community for years to come.

Click on image to enlarge the flyer

MLK Jr. Celebration (January) Hosted annually by the CASF-V in partnership with the faith-based community, the annual Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration is a morning-long series of connected events that kicks off at 8:15 am at Fuquay-Varina Middle School with a march through downtown Fuquay-Varina to a local church (location rotates every two years). At the end of the march, participants are treated to a fellowship breakfast – the food for which is donated by many local restaurants. Following the breakfast is an ecumenical celebration service in the sanctuary of the host church that includes song, dramatic recitation, prayer, readings, and a number of other celebratory activities. The winners of the essay contest for local middle and high school students will be recognized during the service as well. This event is a much-anticipated event every year and attendance grows as our population grows. Please consider joining us this year and see what it’s all about!
